Fall and winter hold a special place in my heart, but spring….there’s something truly magical about this season! The sun begins to shine just a little brighter, lifting our mood and pulling us out of that winter slump. The days get longer, allowing us to spend more time outdoors bathing in the soft, refreshing breeze. And let’s not forget the colorful blooms and the smell of sweetness in the air as nature comes back to life again. Birds chirping. Butterflies in the garden. The feel of garden soil on your hands. Everything just feels so alive and vibrant again!

As we begin to leave the darker, cozier days of winter behind, it’s the perfect opportunity to reset and prepare our homes for the lighter, more energetic days ahead. Spring is all about fresh starts, and there’s no better place to begin than your home.

To help welcome the season, here are 8 spring home decor ideas to refresh your space for spring!

1. Embrace Pastel and Vibrant Colors

You guys know that pink and lavender are my favorite colors. Heck, I love anything pastel! One of the biggest reasons I love spring decor is because that means I can go crazy with pastel everything! Swap out the darker tones of winter for pastel shades like blush pink, mint green, sky blue, and pale lavender. You can also accent your living room with vibrant pops of yellow or coral to create a cheerful atmosphere. Pastels are an essential part of any spring home decor ideas list!

  • Incorporate pastels & pops of color in throw pillows, curtains, rugs, or wall accents
  • Select a color palette that already complements your existing furniture and walls
  • Shop for pastel or vibrant accessories that you can easily swap out each season like pillow coversthrow blankets, coffee table decor pieces, candles, etc.
  • One of my favorite ways to add a pop of color to my spring decor is to add fresh flowers in bright colors every week. If you don’t want the hassle of fresh flowers, try these realistic soft-touch tulips that look & feel real without any maintenance involved!

2. Fresh Blooms & Greenery

Fresh flowers and green plants are must haves for any spring-themed living room. Fill your living room with potted plants, vases of seasonal blooms, or even a stylish budget-friendly terrarium to give an earthy & refreshing vibe to your space. Gardening themes in your decor also look super cute & rustic for the season.

  • Try something simple like getting a bouquet of fresh flowers from Trader Joe’s and just popping them in a vase on your coffee table (tulips, peonies, & daffodils look beautiful in the spring!)
  • If you’re looking for something low maintenance – craft stores like Michael’s and Jo-Ann’s also sell a wide variety of faux flowers & faux plants for affordable prices, and they are often on sale too!
  • Try starting a herb garden this year. It’s pretty simple and easy for beginners, and can help have fresh herbs on hand for meal prep!
  • Purchase decorative pots or vases that match the spring theme
  • Macrame plant hangers are so cute & give your space that boho look

3. Update Linens & Textiles

In the winter, all we want are the cozy warm blankets and chunky throws. But as the weather gets warmer over spring, light and breathable fabrics feel a lot better. Try linen or cotton textiles for throw pillows and blankets. Opt for floral patterns, botanical prints, or simple pastel hues to enhance the spring vibe.

  • Remove winter-themed or heavy fabrics from sofa and chairs
  • Select lightweight pillow covers and blankets in seasonal patterns or colors
  • Replace old covers with new ones and fold lightweight blankets neatly on sofas or chairs

4. Add Light & Airy Curtains

Imagine sitting on your sofa on a cool spring day, next to the window with the sun shining and a light breeze. Switching out your heavy winter curtains for sheer or lightweight curtains will let in more light and look beautiful as they sway in the spring breeze. Neutral cream-toned or pale pastel colors will look the best with spring decor.

  • Measure your windows to ensure you have the right curtain size
  • Choose materials such as linen or sheer cotton for your curtains
  • Adjust the curtains to allow maximum light to enter while maintaining privacy

5. Refresh Your Artwork

This may take a little bit more work to change seasonally, but it is definitely worth the effort! Wall art can add that vibrant pop of pattern & color to really level up your seasonal home decor. In the spring, hang up pieces that feature nature-inspired themes such as landscapes, flowers, or abstract designs in bright, spring-like colors.

  • Take down & store away holiday-themed or winter-themed artwork
  • Bright or pastel colors are usually the best for spring decor. Pair them with floral, leaf, nature-themed, or boho patterns to give it an extra spring flair
  • For a budget-friendly option, you can look at thrift shops or make DIY artwork using pressed flowers or photographs
  • I love hanging up artwork in white frames so that the colors & patterns in the artwork is the focal point

6. Incorporate Natural Materials

Natural elements such as wood, wicker, and rattan can add another layer of earthy feel to your spring decor. These materials evoke an organic feel that’s perfect for spring. In the winter, I like to stick with darker and bulkier wood pieces & accents, but in the spring I like to use lighter colored wood and more wicker elements to give my space a more airy feel.

7. Seasonal Accents

I love switching up fragrances every season, and usually in the spring I opt for light & fresh scents such as floral, linen, citrus, lavender and even “rain-scented” candles. You can also use scent diffusers or fresh flowers to infuse your living room with fragrance.

  • Choose your preferred method of adding scents, such as candles, essential oil diffusers, or potpourri
  • Select spring-inspired scents like lavendercitrus, or floral blends
  • Place the candles or diffusers in key areas, such as coffee tables or shelves
  • Create a cozy reading nook and add candles to make the space feel even more inviting

8. Layer With Rugs

Layering rugs is a stylish way to add texture and warmth to your living room. Pair a large neutral “base” area rug with a smaller, patterned one in vibrant or pastel colors to tie the room together. Or if you have a smaller space like the one pictured above, you can just lay the spring-patterned rug alone.

  • Choose a neutral base rug that covers most of your living room floor
  • Place the smaller rug at an angle or centered over the base rug to create depth
  • Adjust the placement to ensure the layered rugs enhance the room’s layout

Hope you found these spring home decor ideas helpful! With these easy changes, your home will feel fresh, vibrant, and ready for spring! Whether you’re hosting spring gatherings or enjoying a quiet afternoon with a book, your new space will be your favorite spot all season round.
